Kathleen Rea and myself are thrilled to be invited to be Artists in Residence at the Woodland Farm Residency in Saltspring Island, BC this summer. We will be building a new dance theatre work - WOVEN - that explores the intersections of intergenerational trauma, motherhood, and aging.
The residency includes mentorship with the founders Gwenyth Dobie (dramaturg) and William Mackwood (lighting designer) and daily gardening for our souls and our functional movement training!

TEA WITH MARA - new dance theatre work coming soon!
Tea with Mara, meaning to invite Mara (your ‘demons’) for tea, is set in this ‘spirited’ space, embodying Japanese Canadian and Buddhist mythology, practices and philosophy. This interdisciplinary collaboration between dance/theatre and music, animates themes of suffering, pleasure, transformation, and the interconnection between the past, present, and future. Personal and cultural narratives of diaspora, identity, and intergenerational heritages are shared through choreography performed by Gibum Dante Lim, Mika Lior, Mateo Gallindo Torres, and Suzanne Liska, with sound design/performance by Heidi Chan and accompaniment by RAW Taiko Drummers and costume and set designer Jennie Simm (Vallis).
