Collaborative embodied processes inform my teaching philosophy. Using an inquiry-based learning model, I pose questions, problems and scenarios to facilitate a student-centred learning environment. I teach professional and pre-professional dancers and actors and for the wider community. I have been a teacher since 2001 and received Bachelor Degrees in Arts and in Education, a Certified Alexander Technique Teacher, and an MFA in Dance Choreography. I am contract faculty in the Dance department at York University and Acting and Digital Media department at George Brown College. The main courses I teach are Conditioning, Functional Movement, Somatics (Alexander Technique), Solo, Contact, and Ensemble Improvisation/Composition. The classes/workshops range from one hour introductory classes for individuals to full-year courses for groups. |
